Title: Fikr-e-Ameeq Author: Dr. Haroon ur Rasheed Tabassum Publishers: Maqbool Academy, Lahore Pages: 288, Price: Rs. 600/- This world is teacher of a sensitive soul. Time does not remain centered on a point but changes with alteration in the surroundings, This is the theme on which Professor Haroon ur Rasheed Tabassum had developed his book titled ‘Fikr-e-Ameeq’ (deep-rooted thoughts) published by Maqbool Academy. Tabassum quotes Meer Taqi Meer’s couplet ‘Sarsari Tum Jehan Sei Guzre/Warna Har Ja Jehan-e-Deegar Tha’ (you passed this world casually otherwise there existed the whole world which went unnoticed by you) in support of his belief that nature’s workshop teaches us a lesson on every turn in our life. So, every individual should be treated seriously and with caution as Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had said that when out of your house, treat every person you come across as superior to you. The first essay in the book under review is on Rab ul Aalameen (the God of Universe). Human being since is the life of Universe, all the world is created by God for him. Iqbal in his book Bal-e-Jibraeel had said ‘Khol Aankh Zameen Daikh Falak Daikh Khuda Daikh/Mashriq Sei Ubharte Hue Sooraj Ko Zara Daikh (open your eyes; see earth and sky and the rising sun from the East). The next chapter is reserved for praise of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This book by Prof. Tabassum is comprehensive in giving information on list of Prophets as mentioned in Holy Quran, the constitution and agreements for first Islamic State, homage to 313 survivors and martyrs of the battle of Badar The word ‘Arab’ means land of desert with no water. Most Prophets hailed from this land. This land of 1.2 million square miles did not have any amenities centuries ago to live a decent life, what to talk of any cultured life. During pre-Islamic days this was a land of illiteracy. However, the valleys of Dajla and Faraat gave fertile soil to this land. It took birth during Sameeri nation some four to five thousand years Before Christ. Sameeris belonged to Central Asia originally. They worshipped idols and believed in magic but they captured all Arab land, 1899 years before Christ. Saam was the third son of Hazrat Noha. Hashim of Abdul Munaaf was born in 464. He was kind and helpful to the poor. He sent caravans to Syria and Yemen and got rich. Rome and Negro King Najashi opened trade because of him. Once there was famine in Mukkah, Hashim provided bread in gravy to the people. Hashim’s brother was namely Mutlib. He went to Yasrib and requested her sister in law Salma that he may be allowed to bring his nephew with him to Mukkah. After Mutlib’s death his nephew Abu Mutlib now started looking after the Harem. He was famous as a kind and giving person. In those days Yemen’s ruler Abraha attacked Kabaa with sixty thousand army men. When he reached the area between Mudzalfa and Minna, his elephant sat and refused to advance further. It was then that God sent Ababeels with pebbles in their peaks that bombarded the Army with the pebbles and the Army was destroyed. The elephants receded and trampled their own Army (Sura-e-Feel). This incidence happening in February-March 571 enhanced the prestige of Kabaa. One night Abdul Mutlib heard a voice saying him to dig Zam Zam. He prayed to God to give him ten sons to carry out this work. His prayers were heard. He had promised God that he shall lay one son in the path of God if his prayers were met. The omen came in the youngest son Abdullah’s name. He was taken to the slaughter house near Zam Zam. An astrologer was hired from Yasrib. The number of animals reached 100 when God accepted this immolation. Abdullah’s mother’s name was Fatima. Abdullah bin Abdul Mutib was a handsome person. The news of God accepting offer of camels in his place spread like wild fire in whole of Arab land. He selected Amina, daughter of chieftain of Bani Zahra tribe for marriage. During a pilgrimage to Madinah, Abdullah died but left a gift for Amina. On Monday, 9th or 12th Rabi ul Awwal 52 before Migration that is on 22 April, 571 our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born. This personality was the same for which Prophet Ibrahim Elleh Salaam had prayed to Almighty and Christ has given the news of his arrival (page 42). This book by Prof. Tabassum is comprehensive in giving information on list of Prophets as mentioned in Holy Quran, the constitution and agreements for first Islamic State, homage to 313 survivors and martyrs of the battle of Badar. The book also provided translation and gist of Kalima-e-Tayyaba. General information of the duties of Muslim men and rights of Muslim women has been given. It is mentioned that serving food to the guests, burying the dead, marrying adult women and returning loans are some of the jobs that are to be done speedily. The decisions of Islamic Courts have been given. The rest of the book gives Tabassum’s views on many other issues that need to be dealt with under Islamic teachings.
