ISLAMABAD: A Malawian Delegation headed by Malawian Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Kondwani Nankhumwa, along with Malawian Deputy Ambassador in Kuwait Alison Edson Liwanda visited Federation House and held a meeting with Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Zubair Tufail and Other Office Bearers of FPCCI.

He emphasised on the exploration of African market, which is the second largest continent of the world and Pakistan has not been able to realise its full potential despite being enjoying cordial relations with the African countries. The present volume of trade between Pakistan and Malawi is approximately $10-11 million, which is very low. He added that Pakistan has huge potential in the traditional exports like rice, sports goods, mangoes, surgical instruments, pharmaceutical products, leather, dairy products, fresh vegetable and fruits and textile items.
The FPCCI Vice President Mirza Ishtiaq Baig stated that Pakistan and Malawi both are members of G-77 and Commonwealth blocs. Both countries should expand the trade and commercial relations through formulation of delegation and participation in exhibition.
Malawian Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa disclosed that there is no embassy or representation of Malawi government in Pakistan, therefore Samir Mir Sheikh has been nominated as an Honorary Consul General of Malawi in Pakistan. He further invited FPCCI to participate in the Malawi International Trade Fair.
