Various developmental sectors in the capital have failed to initiate development projects despite getting charge of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Afzal Latif two months ago. A source in the civic agency informed that the new chairman took charge of the office two months ago but the chairman and his team have not drafted a clear policy or vision to start developmental works for various sectors which are pending since decades. He added that the chairman is getting the credit of demolition and encroachment drive which is the domain of the enforcement director not of the CDA chairman. It is pertinent to mention that CDA Chairman Afzal Latif got the charge of the civic agency two months ago as new chairman. Various sectors eg I-11, I-12, I-14, I-15,I-16, E12, G-12, Park Enclave Phase 1, and 2 as well as the Kuri Model Village are new sectors of Islamabad but due to poor performance and lack of a visionary approach, these sectors have not been developed yet. I-11, I-14, I-16 and Park Enclave Phase 1 have not even availed basic facilities such as roads, gas connections, water connectivity, electricity and other basic services despite possession of plots by various owners. The civic agency in their massive drive on Kashmir Highway conducted an encroachment drive to restore government land from the grabbers. After decades, the need of wider roads should be ensured but the adjacent Sector G-12 has been ignored by the authorities over other priorities. The sectors ignored by the CDA are now captured by the property mafia and land tycoons who have established mini factories and commercial activities in the said sectors. The owners of the plots despite paying huge amounts of money are still waiting for the official allotment of plots to them. To inquire about the failure of the civic agency regarding developmental work on various sectors as well failure over the allotment of plots to various stakeholders, the federal ombudsman has called a meeting on October 26, 2018 where senior officials of the CDA are called to attend.
