The 10th death anniversary of Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) martyrs was observed in Wah Cantonment in a dignified and honourable way. In order to pay tribute to these martyrs, this day is observed in POF every year and a special ceremony is arranged for them. This year too, a simple but impressive function was held in order to pay homage to these shuhada. POF Chairman Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali was the chief guest on this occasion. Addressing on the occasion, POF Board chairman said that “we salute the pious souls of those POF shuhdas who laid down their lives for POF and motherland” and reaffirmed the pledge that we would always remember their sacrifices and POF will continue to play its role for making the defence of the motherland invincible. The chairman of POF Board further remarked that the coward acts of the terrorists would not lessen “our courage and we would continue to shoulder our responsibilities with courage, dedication and commitment”. He said that extremism and sectarianism weaken the nations. “We are all Muslims and we have to observe tolerance. The society which is facing intolerance cannot make progress. We all have to eliminate the sectarianism and extremism from our society,” he said, adding that more than 50,000 Pakistanis have sacrificed their lives in the war against terror and masses support to Armed Forces of Pakistan in this war can’t be traced in history. “The role of POF in this war is also commendable,” he said while expressing his sympathy with the families of martyrs and said that POF administration would make every effort for their welfare and directed POF officers to address their problems as soon as possible. Earlier, the chairman laid the floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and the contingent of the Defence Services Guard presented a salute. Administrator Director Brigadier Zaki Rahman Mir in his welcoming remarks said that POF administration was committed to resolve the problems of the families of these martyrs.
