ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Wednesday ordered to shut down Hashmat Medical and Dental College located at Jalalpur Jattan in Gujrat. The court directed the the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to lodge FIR against the college administration. The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar observed that students of the college should be allowed to appear in the examinations. He perceived that the college received more than Rs48 million from students but had not issued receipts to them. He remarked that the condition of primary schools located in other parts of the country was better than Hashmat Medical College. He pointed out that the apex court could not neglect issues of violation of fundamental rights. The CJP took ‘suo motu’ notice of the matter after students had protested in the federal capital few days ago. Published in Daily Times, April 5th 2018.
