Under the auspices of the Idara-e-Saqafat-e-Islamia, in collaboration with Lahore Arts Council Alhamra and the Pakistan Philosophical Association, a distinguished intellectual and scholarly session titled “The Creative Thought of Islamic Renaissance: From Allama Iqbal to Dr Burhan Ahmed Farooqi” was held at Alhamra Hall 3.
The event brought together renowned scholars, intellectuals, students and citizens to reflect on the pivotal role of Allama Iqbal’s ideas in the revival and intellectual flourishing of the Muslim Ummah. Speakers emphasised that Iqbal’s thought continues to serve as a guiding beacon for the contemporary Islamic renaissance.
The session was presided over by Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhry with Alhamra Executive Director Mahboob Alam Chaudhry, serving as chief guest. Addressing the audience, Alhamra ED remarked, “Allah has laid down eleven tests to teach humanity that true success lies in the purification of the self.” Dr Burhan Ahmed Farooqi highlighted that an individual’s spiritual growth is rooted in resisting carnal desires, and societal advancement must align with principled institutional frame works.
Distinguished guests Dr. Waheed-uz-Zaman Tariq and Dr. Abdur-Rauf Rafiqi attended as Guests of Honour. The session featured insights on the creative and intellectual dimensions of the Islamic Renaissance. Dr. Javed Iqbal Nadeem described Iqbal’s thought as the fountainhead of Islamic revival; Dr. Saima Aram spoke to its relevance in the modern era; Dr. Khizar Yaseen traced the intellectual continuum from Iqbal to Dr. Farooqi; and Dr. Absar Ahmed elaborated on the creative spirit of the Islamic Renaissance. A consensus emerged that embracing Iqbal’s vision is essential for the Muslim community to regain its lost eminence.
Alhamra Academy, in charge Naveen Roma moderated the event and was further enlivened by a recital of Iqbal’s poetry by Zahid Hashmi, a talented student of Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts. ED Alhamra Mahboob Alam Chaudhry presented commemorative souvenirs to all panel speakers and distinguished guests, marking the occasion as a memorable celebration of scholarly thought and cultural reflection.
