Punjab Police successfully repelled a terrorist attack on a checkpoint in Dera Ghazi Khan early Saturday morning. According to the police, 20-25 terrorists launched an attack on the Lakhani checkpoint near the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border. Despite being heavily outnumbered, police personnel held their ground and defended the checkpoint. Thankfully, all police officers remained safe during the attack.
The police managed to kill three terrorists and injure several others. One terrorist was eliminated during the initial attack. Later, two more were found and killed during a search operation. The authorities conducted a thorough search in the area after cordoning it off. They discovered traces of blood, abandoned shoes, and other belongings left behind by the fleeing terrorists.
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar praised the force’s quick and decisive response. He said the police acted as a “wall of lead” against national security threats. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the police for handling the attack with professionalism. He applauded their bravery and dedication in thwarting the terrorists’ plans.
Earlier this month, Punjab police had successfully thwarted two separate attacks in the region.
