Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has stated that we have the power to ensure that no project goes ahead that is against the interests of Sindh, and that he will demonstrate this power when the time comes. Speaking to senior journalists in Karachi, Murad Ali Shah said that the most important issue in the country at present is water. He mentioned that they have complete records of the water shortage in the Indus River System.
The caretaker government conducts studies through WAPDA, but the study is odd, stating that after the construction of the Diamer Bhasha Dam, 6 million acres of water will be available. The caretaker government also raised objections on this point.
He said that shortly after that, the Punjab government proposed a canal, suggesting taking water from the Chenab River and creating the Cholistan Canal, which they object to. He further mentioned that people had claimed the Kalabagh Dam would be built, and now the same situation is being created for the Cholistan Canal.
Murad Ali Shah emphasized that he will go to any lengths to protect Sindh’s interests, asserting that he has the power to prevent any project that goes against the province’s interests and will express this power when necessary.
