On Friday, in presence of the Consul General Muhammad Aftab Chaudhry at the floor of the House, the House of Representatives of the State of Texas presented a Resolution recognizing 23rd March as Pakistan Day. The Resolution also recognizes the social, religious, linguistic, and economic contributions of the Pakistani-American community to the State of Texas.
The Resolution, moved by State Rep. Dr. Suleman Lalani, acknowledges that Pakistani Texans through their professional work, cultural background and values of peace & prosperity have bolstered the success of Texas. It may be recalled that, in a landmark acknowledgment of the invaluable contributions of the Pakistani-American community, the New York State Assembly and Senate, in the presence of the Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, recently adopted two significant resolutions-proclaiming March 23, 2025, as “Pakistan-American Heritage Day” and March 19, 2025, as “Pakistani-American Business Celebration Day” in the State of New York.
Welcoming the development, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed stated that the passage of the Pakistan Day resolution and the recognition of the services of the Pakistani community augur well for strengthening Pakistan-U.S. relations. He added that this initiative would be expanded to other states, particularly those with a larger concentration of the Pakistani diaspora. Earlier, Pak Consul General in Houston also held a meeting with Dustin Burrows, Speaker of the House, in his chamber and thanked him for his role in passing the Resolution. The Consul General extended an invitation to the Speaker to visit Pakistan along with a delegation of state representatives and businessmen from Texas.
Later on, he also attended an Iftar hosted by State Rep. Dr. Sulaiman Lalani in honor of the members of both houses of the legislature and local dignitaries at the Texas Capitol.
