Trump urges Iran to return to negotiating table after missile escalation

Trump urges Iran to halt missile attacks and return to negotiations - Times Kuwait

US President Donald Trump has urged Iran to return to the negotiating table and agree to a deal following renewed missile exchanges between Iran and Israel, according to media reports.

Speaking after Iran launched missiles in response to Israeli strikes, Trump said Tehran should stop further escalation and focus on diplomacy. He stated that Iran had already fired its missiles and should now “come back to the table” to pursue a negotiated settlement.

Trump reportedly said the two sides were close to reaching an agreement in recent days, suggesting that a formal deal could have been signed within days if hostilities had not intensified. He added that US military forces remain on high alert amid rising regional tensions.

The US president also expressed dissatisfaction with recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon, saying such actions were not fully coordinated and could complicate ongoing diplomatic efforts. He warned that continued military escalation would not help advance peace negotiations.

His remarks come as the Middle East faces a sharp increase in hostilities, with Iran and Israel exchanging missile and air strikes following earlier confrontations. The latest round of violence marks a significant escalation, despite ongoing international efforts to restore stability.

According to reports, Israel carried out air operations following Iranian missile launches, while Iranian forces claimed to have targeted Israeli positions in response to previous strikes. Air defense systems in Israel reportedly intercepted several incoming missiles.

The situation has raised concerns among global powers, particularly as efforts continue to prevent a broader regional war. Analysts say the conflict is increasingly complex, involving multiple fronts and allied groups across Lebanon and Yemen.

Despite the rising violence, Trump has insisted that a diplomatic resolution remains possible, urging both sides to de-escalate and resume negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement.

International observers continue to call for restraint as tensions remain high and the risk of wider conflict persists.
