Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said respecting international agreements guarantees global peace and stability. He made the remarks while addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Thursday evening. Moreover, he warned that suspending agreements for political pressure damages international trust and legal systems.
Ishaq Dar highlighted Pakistan’s strong diplomatic and economic partnerships with several friendly countries during his address. He said relations with Azerbaijan remained strong and bilateral cooperation continued expanding in different sectors. Furthermore, he noted that ties with Bangladesh were progressing warmly through growing diplomatic engagement and mutual understanding. He also described Pakistan as a sincere and reliable partner for all friendly nations.

The foreign minister emphasized Pakistan’s broad legal partnership with China under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor framework. He said CPEC continued bringing both countries closer through economic cooperation and long-term development projects. In addition, Dar stressed that Pakistan remained committed to fulfilling all international responsibilities as a responsible state. He added that adherence to international laws under the United Nations Charter was essential for every country.
Meanwhile, Dar criticized countries that delay or suspend agreements for political or strategic purposes. He warned that using legal arrangements as political tools weakens mutual confidence among nations and threatens global legal order. Moreover, he stated that such actions create uncertainty and undermine trust in international diplomacy and agreements. He urged all countries to respect treaties and implement commitments responsibly for lasting peace.

Ishaq Dar also revealed that Pakistan facilitated talks between the United States and Iran after 47 years. He said Pakistan’s mediation efforts helped achieve a ceasefire between both countries during recent regional tensions. Finally, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to multilateral diplomacy and peaceful conflict resolution through continued diplomatic engagement worldwide.
