Among those killed was commander Umar alias Jaan Mir, commonly known as Toor Saqib, who reportedly carried a bounty of Rs3 million. Security officials described him as a high-value target allegedly involved in multiple attacks on civilians and security personnel.
According to sources, Toor Saqib was known for expertise in improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and suicide bombing operations. Authorities also claimed he had established underground bunkers, tunnels and explosive traps in areas surrounding Bobali Mosque in Spinwam.
Officials said the area was cordoned off before the launch of the operation, allowing forces to engage the militants after locating their positions. The operation was conducted as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the region.
Security analysts described the killing of the commander as a significant development against militant networks operating in the tribal districts bordering Afghanistan. They added that operations under the government’s “Azm-e-Istehkam” campaign were continuing in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The latest operation follows another large-scale military action in the Shewa area of North Waziristan earlier this month. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 22 militants were killed during a search and clearance operation launched on May 17 based on intelligence reports regarding militant presence in the area.

North Waziristan has remained a focus of security operations in recent years due to continued militant activity and cross-border security concerns.
Authorities say intelligence-based operations will continue to eliminate militant hideouts and improve security in affected regions.
