KARACHI: At least four poor labourers were found dead and one injured on Thursday when five workers of an under construction chemical factory fell and got drowned into a factory’s underground water tanker in the limits of Bin-Qasim a area located in outskirts of the City. The incident occurred in the morning but the Bodies of the deceased and injured were shifted to Jinnah Hospital in evening from the far area of the metropolis. SSP Malir Rao Anwar told Daily Times that as per the details he received from Bin-Qasim police station at around 13:00 hours on Thursday five persons fell into the water tank of an under construction SCADA comical factory located at Port Qasim near Ghaghar Pathak area during their work. Few workers tried to save their fellows but they could not succeed in their efforts and they themselves were about to get drowned themselves. Latter on rescue workers with the help of factory workers and the police pulled out the bodies and then shifted them to the Hospital. The deceased were identified as Zahoor, Tanwer. Fazan and Fasal while the injured has been identified as Ali Shah According to Chhipa Welfare Association, all four male labourers were between ages 30 to 35 years. Talking to Daily Times a Chhipa spokesperson confirmed that the tank was “filled with some kind of chemical”. He added that the bodies were being shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre located at a distance of over 40 kilometers from the factory and it took some time to reach the Morgue. Meanwhile, JPMC executive director Dr Seemin Jamali told Daily Times that as she received the information about incident she directed the hospital’s emergency department to stay alert but they have not received any body till the filing of this news According to police it was being probed that what kind of negligence was committed form the factory Administration in the adoption of safety masseurs during the work.
