KARACH: The first day of the Bridal Couture Week – Gold Edition kicked off in the city at The Palm. There was also that element of star power in the air towards the end of each show. The second half of Day 1 was chock-a-block with our film industry’s prominent faces or better said as Team ‘Yalghar’. Fahad Hussayn AFahad Hussayn’s latest novelty couture collection has evolved from the idea of a luxury wedding couture range to including sophisticated formal jackets, cropped silhouettes, signature couture gowns and a lot more in men’s and women’s wear. Adorned with embellishments of 3D Swarovski crystals sequins work alongside zardozi, the collection featured intricate use of signature patchwork, 3D and rare traditional embroidery techniques on customised fabric bases and handcraft on net, chiffon and organza. Dulha Bhatti brought history and heritage in the spotlight and captivated the audience. Whether you are looking for a traditional or a modern bridal, the designer covered all. From lehngas to gowns, the options were endless. Actress Urwa Hocane and singer Farhan Saeed showstopped for the designer. Yasmin Zaman Yasmin Zaman was up next with her collection titled Undulus. The collection included structured silhouettes in black, gold and maroon. The designer drew inspiration from Spanish aesthetics. Reds fused with gold made the outfits elegant. Stand out accessories from the collection were the Dolce & Gabbaba-inspired box clutches. Erum Khan Erum Khan showcased her collection titled Progeny Of Venus. She succeeded in putting together another glamorous bridal collection. Staying true to the brand’s ethos of designing with traditional allure and timeless elegance, the summer couture collection infused pure chiffons with silks in rich jewel tones embellished with traditional embroidery techniques across classic silhouettes. The collection highlighted on intricately-embellished lehngas along with shirts with shorter hemlines and Khan’s signature floor-length gowns. The intricate cutwork and beautiful long motifs were the highlights of the collection. Traditional cuts with lots of sparkles made the bridals look really pretty. Actress Mawra Hocane showstopped for the designer. Mohsin Naveed Ranjha Mohsin Naveed Ranjha of MNR Design Studio was next up with his collection, in which gold was dominant. The designer used a minimal colour palette but the outfits showed exquisite craftsmanship. Actress Humaima Malick showstopped for the designer. Her hair and make-up was spot on. Her dainty bridal captivated the audience. Tabassum Mughal Model Nadia Malik opened the show for Tabassum Mughal with a theatrical act with the theme song of fantasy drama TV series ‘Game Of Thrones’, which seemed to me to be irrelevant to the collection. Formal embellishments dominated the collection. I don’t see how the spiked Viking-inspired hairdos and ‘GOT’ soundtrack were apt for the collection showcase but it did give a mainstream flair to the show! Mansoor Akram Amna Yasmin by Mansoor Akram displayed a collection which consisted of lightweight fabrics and Swarovski embellishments. The outfits were set in a colour palette of light shades. Naushad Imdad Naushad Imdad showcased his collection titled Eminence IV, which consisted of lean silhouettes, classic suiting and embroidered sherwanis for men. SAadia Mirza The day ended with Saadia Mirza’s Roses & Rain collection, which was heavily embellished with Swarovski crystals and garra work. Shades of grey were fused with layered and tasselled fluid shapes. Sana Bucha showstopped for the designer.
