ISLAMABAD: The file regarding giving of authority to mayor and deputy mayors, Federal Capital Territory, Islamabad, has been tangled in the Ministry of Interior . The dwellers of the capital city, who voted in the first ever local bodies election in Islamabad have decided to come out on the streets soon. For the purpose the newly elected nazims and naib nazims in their union councils have speeded up a mass contact campaign stating that depriving the citizens of Islamabad from their rights is a conspiracy of some ministers. The Daily Times has got the documents, which revealed that the summary of transferring only two departments along with their 151 employees to the new district government. These include the local department and civil defence . Both the departments are now working under the chief commissioner of Islamabad. The sources said that the committee that was constituted by the Ministry of Interior to transmit the authority could not play its active role and its meetings had been postponed due to non availability of its members . Local leaders of PML(N) Niaz Hussain , Sajjad Ahmed and Musawar said that State Minister for CADD Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary might be the hindrance in shifting authorities to local bodies. The person was made deputy mayor Islamabad who not only submitted applications against former PML(N) MNA AnjumAqeel Khan but also got the cases with the police against him registered. Due to these reasons many old workers and local leaders of PML(N) showed their annoyance. These leaders of PML(N) were of the opinion that Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary on the desire of his old friend Anjum Aqeel Khan is creating snags in the way of transferring power to local bodies. The Daily Times also came to know through reliable sources that FIA has started a probe against newly elected Deputy Mayor Syed Zeeshan Naqvi alias Shani Shah on the charges of land grabbing and illegal possession of state property. The sources said that on the import of mayor from abroad and the distribution of party tickets for local bodies election, had put the cracks in the ranks and files of PML(N) and hundreds of party workers objected at that time that the party nominated mostly the people from the land mafia. “A chairman of UC is running a casino and an elected representative is supervising brothel houses . Those who were zero yesterday became multi billionaires today with the illicit income”, the sources added. The Prime Minister’s House instructed Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan to issue the notification regarding transfer of powers, but he is waiting for the report of the committee.
