Usman Amjad Rathore is a Pakistani weightlifter who has made the country proud on several international platforms. A fan of grilled beef and BBQ, Usman hails from Gujranwala and is a fitness freak. He has several titles and medals to his name. Among his numerous laurels are two gold and one silver medal from South Asian Games events. Rathore won two Gold medals at mega events in 2019. The pandemic caused a hindrance in his plans for this year, but he is determined and has his eyes set on gold medals in upcoming mega events, South Asian Games 2021 in Pakistan and the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Early Life and Education Rathore was born on 10th January 1987 in Gujranwala. He did his B.com from University of Central Gujranwala. In 1999, he began as a free-style wrestler, but being inspired by his father and with his encouragement and guidance, Usman soon switched to weightlifting. Weightlifting Career Before conquering international platforms, he won gold medal thrice in 2005, 2006 and 2007 in Pakistan University Weightlifting Championship. Later he won silver medal in Common Wealth Games 2015 held in Pune, India and represented Pakistan in Common Wealth Games event hosted by Australia in 2018. Not to forget, Usman Amjad has succeeded to bag gold, silver and bronze medals in Junior Asian Weightlifting Championship in Jordan. He also happens to be a record holder in South Asian games that took place in Dhaka in 2010 and brought another gold medal home from South Asian Games in 2019. Hobbies Usman, in his leisure time, uses social media and is an active user of TikTok, where his account has over 715.4K followers.
