The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered contempt proceedings against Minister of State Zartaj Gul and her advisor Malik Amin Aslam. High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah has heard a case against non-transfer of bears from the zoo despite a court order. The court has also summoned the Secretary, Ministry of Climate Change and Chairman Wildlife Board. The Islamabad High Court has also sought the names of those responsible for the injuries sustained during the transfer of animals from the zoo to the federal government. Chief Justice Atharmanullah asked what happened to the lions? The lawyer said that the lion and the tigress were being shifted to Lahore and the services of professionals were sought for the work. The court remarked that the Ministry of Climate Change, MCI and the Wildlife Board are only playing politics. “All three departments are not ready to take responsibility”. The Chief Justice said that the court had determined who would be responsible if something happened to an animal, the court had an idea that this was going to happen to the animals. It was decided that the members of the Wildlife Board would be responsible for transporting all the animals. The court said that the federal government had constituted a board for the transfer of animals and submitted a notification. The Chief Justice said that the court observed that none of the concerned agencies was ready to take responsibility. Chief Justice Atharmanullah inquired whether an FIR had been lodged against all those responsible. All those responsible also violated the court order. The Honorable Judge said that why not take action against all those responsible, this court will take action against all those responsible. It’s easy to make a statement and take credit. The court remarked that “State representatives who cannot take care of animals will take care of human beings”. Chief Justice Atharmanullah asked who was investigating the matter. The Deputy Attorney General told the court that representatives of the Ministry of Climate Change were conducting an inquiry. The court said they would investigate against him. You made a mockery of the decision. The federal government is exposing itself.
