PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly unanimously passed a resolution on the tragic incident of suicide bomb blast in Quetta civil hospital in which more than 97 people were killed and more than hundred people were injured and condemned the attack as inhuman here on Monday. The provincial law minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi moved the resolution which stated that 97 people were killed and 171 were injured in the incident. “It is a huge loss and can’t be condemned in words so the assembly condemns the incident with a joint resolution”, Imtiaz added. Deputy speaker provincial assembly Dr Mehar Taj Roghani suspended the agenda for the day and opened the floor for discussion over the tragic incident of Quetta, adding that it was a big incident and it should be discussed on the floor of the provincial assembly. Awami National Party (ANP) parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak condemned the incident and advised the leadership of the country to admit the mistakes of the past. “We need not to feel shame anymore over admitting the mistakes as we committed in the past,” he added. Babak was also critical on the progress of National Action Plane (NAP) and demanded that the NAP should be implemented with the full spirit across the country, adding and suggested that the KP government should announce mourning over the tragic incident of Quetta. “It seems that the National Action Plan is limited to papers,” he said adding that the whole nation was given assurance that NAP would end lawlessness and people had realized that they would have peace but such incidents occurring from time to time raise question mark over NAP. He also raised the issue of Afghan refugees being harassed and expelled from Pakistan. Their houses are raided and we should keep in mind Pakistanis living abroad as they might also face the same fate and if it happened we would not feel it good, Babak added. He demanded for an immediate end to Afghan refugees’ harassment and called for dignified treatment of refugees. Opposition leader in the provincial assembly Maulana Lutfur Rahman, called for reviving the policies regarding the law and order situation. “When operation continues throughout the year but such incidents still happen, then we should revisit our policies,” he said. We have Islamic values we share so if we send the disgruntled then it would have serious and dangerous repercussions,” he said adding that the matter needs to be taken up with the federal government. Inayat Ullah said that it was the responsibility of provincial and federal government to treat the afghan refugees with dignity and love. Senior minister for irrigations Sikandar Sherpao of Qaumi Watan Party said that the Kabul and Pakistan peace are interlinked and he called for a joint strategy of both the countries to cope with their joint enemy. “Peace in Kabal is directly connected to peace in Pakistan so we need to make plans and common strategy is needed to be developed against the common enemy.”
