Trendy, fun and truly distinct — designers bring forth the best of choco-inspired fashion

Published on: September 24, 2016 1:46 AM

KARACHI: Wednesday night experienced an amalgamation of art, fashion, creativity and flavour, all combined in one to bring forth fashionable outfits displaying their inspiration by the Surrealist Movement. Ali Xeeshan, Faraz Manan, Nilofer Shahid and Shamaeel Ansari showcased capsule collections which were met by thunderous applause by all those watching. Each designer interpreted the theme of surrealism into daring collections inspired by art and chocolate, bringing the relationship between art and fashion alive.

Shamaeel Ansari

This genius Karachi-based designer, who was the first to showcase her collection, displayed an ensemble which was elegant, sophisticated, graceful and exuded an international appeal. Shamaeel got the concept right with short coats, floral floor-length skirts, colourful headgears and minimal jewellery. Red, black, gold and white were the key colours used.

Nilofer Shahid

The couture queen played with a lot of colours and hues and stood out for her immaculate use of artistic creations coupled with a wearability factor to all her clothes. Chiffon, net, organza and tissue were some of the most dominant fabrics used in this capsule collection. A sky blue ruffled floor-length gown with an enormous floral motif at the front neckline took us by surprise. Beauty!

Ali Xeeshan

The Lahore-based designer showcased a collection which was rich in sequins, motifs, floral embellishments. The colour palette mostly consisted of golds and burnt shades of red, orange and yellow. Actress Mawra Hocane showstopped for the designer wearing a sleeveless panelled gown. The collection was fun, trendy, colourful and very unique.

Faraz Manan

The young designer who is rocking international shows and exhibitions as you read this, stayed true to the signature shades of Magnum ice cream and its wrapping. Models sashayed down the stage, wearing floor-length hooded gowns with heavily embellished gold belts and coordinating sleeves. Peek-a-boo cut ponchos and bright gold gowns were some of the outfits showed in the capsule collection. Faraz displayed menswear too, with cream-coloured pants and gold button-down short coats. Nooray Bhatti showstopped for the designer.
