ISLAMABAD: Two female members of the cabin crew of Shaheen Air Lines were caught red-handed stealing from a shopping mall in the UK. Sources told Daily Times that cabin crew members Nazia Azkar and Rida Saeed of Shaheen Air Lines flight No NL-901, which was bound from Islamabad to Manchester stole undergarments from Primark Shopping Mall Manchester, but the staff deployed there caught them through CCTV cameras installed in the mall. When the women were caught, they called the captain of the aeroplane, who requested the management to release them. The management of the mall agreed to release the women. When the flight came back to Pakistan, the pilot gave a report of the incident to the administration of the airline, upon which the chief executive fired both women from service. When Daily Times contacted Human Resource Manager Sadia Ijaz of the airlines, she also confirmed that the services of both officials was terminated; however she refused to tell this scribe some more information on the saga. When flight service manager Huma Arshad was contacted, she said that the Marketing Chief of Shaheen Air Lines would say something on the issue. This reporter also made contact with the Marketing Chief Zohaib. He denied that anybody was shown the door on the charges of theft. “It is a confidential matter of the airline and no one can interfere in it. We are free to hire or fire anybody”, he insisted, suspiciously defensively. When this reporter contacted the affected woman Rida Saeed to know her stance, she said that the incident was based on a misunderstanding and she would be restored to her job soon.
