All arrangements have been finalized to launch a campaign against tax defaulting vehicles across Sindh province from Dec 24 (tomorrow). This decision was made at a Sindh Excise and Taxation Department’s meeting, which was chaired by Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla. The meeting was also attended by Excise and Taxation Sindh’s Secretary Abdul Haleem Sheikh and Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui. Briefing the meeting, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that a massive public awareness campaign had been launched through media so that the people could deposit their tax timely. Under the drive, tax defaulting vehicles would be confiscated and returned only after payment of the tax dues, he said. Mukesh Kumar Chawla advised the owners to transfer the vehicles into their names immediately because driving on open letter was a crime. He said that there were 15 branches of National Bank of Pakistan for the convenience of the people to deposit their due taxes and the details of these branches were posted on the department’s website and published in newspapers as well. DG Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui informed that National Bank of Pakistan branches were located at Awami Markaz, Clifton, Site Area, Nazimabad, Shahbaz Building Hyderabad, Millat Road, Korangi Industrial Area, MA Jinnah Road, Denso Hall, Fatima Road, Jinnah Road Hyderabad, DHA, PIDC, II Chundrigar Road, Gulshan and High Court.
