NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Asif Ali Zardari said on Thursday that the rulers had forgotten what accountability meant. “Nawaz Sharif will now understand what accountability is. The nation awaits proper answers to several pertinent questions,” he told a public gathering in Naushahro Feroze. “We accepted the results of the 2013 election for the sake of democracy. Unlike Nawaz Sharif, I respect democracy. He and Kaptaan [Imran Khan] do not care about democracy. Only I know the value of democracy because I have languished in jails for it,” Zardari said, adding that the government had failed to resolve any of the challenges facing the country. “Mian Sahib is even incapable of reducing petroleum prices to benefit the common man,” he said. “We implemented the 1973 Constitution given by late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. The PPP empowered the provinces through the 18th Amendment,” he said. “Bilawal Bhutto will develop Pakistan. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor was the idea of Pakistan People’s Party. It was the gift of the PPP government for the people of the country,” he said. Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, former Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah also spoke on the occasion. Khurshid Shah said that the present government had snatched the livelihood of people. “Only the PPP understands the true meaning of politics. It is serving the people,” he said.
