ISLAMABAD: Asif, the spouse of deceased Sumayia, said on Monday that he did not have suspicions on anybody over the mysterious death of his wife. Talking to Daily Times, he said Sumaiya often used to go to Lahore with his permission. This time she was insisting to take him along but he could not go due to his official engagements. He said that apparently there were no sign of wounds on her body. However it is possible that she might have died of food poisoning as a burger and other edible items were found in her room. He said that he had recorded his statement with the police. To a question, he said that any PML-N leader did not contact him in Islamabad after Sumaiya’s death. He said that Chaudhary Ashraf is the paternal uncle of Sumaiya’s mother so he has no suspicions regarding him. Sumaiya was found dead in mysterious circumstances at Chamba House Lahore. Late Sumiya’s husband Asif Mehmood is a government official and works in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) as a Lower Division Clerk in Islamabad. Sumiya was living with her husband and three children at PHA flats , situated at G/8 of the federal capital. Her contact with husband was discontinued some 48 hours before her death. She along with two PML-N) workers, Yasin and Aliya went to Shorkot to attend a marriage ceremony in her own car. After spending three days at Shorkot she went to Sahiwal to see an MNA from PML-N Chaudhary Muhammad Ashraf. During that period she was in continuous contact with her husband. After meeting with Chaudhary Ashraf , she went to Lahore , where the said MNA had reserved a room (number 26) inChamba House for her , where she stayed. Suniya’s last contact with her husband was made on November 24 (Thursday) and from the next day onwards her cellular phone was switched off. On Saturday, a waiter knocked the door of her room but she did not respond. At this, the administration of Chamba House broke the room’s door and were astonished to notice that she was dead. On information, her husband reached Lahore and took the dead body to Islamabad, where she was buried at H-8 graveyard Islamabad on Sunday.
