Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed former finance minister Asad Umar as a member of the Economic Development Council (NDC). A notification has also been issued in this regard. The prime minister has approved the establishment of the NDC, comprising of 13 members, including Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa. The premier would head the NDC himself. Several ministers have also been invited to attend the ‘National Economic Council’ (NEC). Meanwhile, ministers from Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan would also be able to participate in the council’s meeting on an invitation basis. The council would also include PM’s secretaries, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Financial Advisor Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Planning, Development and Reforms Division Secretary. PM’s Additional Secretary would be the secretary of the council.
