A daycare center is being established in the Balochistan Assembly. The decision comes after MPA Mahjabeen Sheran was not allowed to attend a session when she brought her child to the assembly. Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal approved the construction of the daycare center inside in the provincial assembly premises. Balochistan will be the first province to have a daycare center in Pakistan. The spokesperson of the provincial government said that the Balochistan Assembly’s daycare centre would provide all facilities to children. Last month, when MPA Mahjabeen brought her child along with her to the assembly, other MPAs had expressed displeasure. She was told that kids were not allowed inside the assembly and the lawmaker was forced to leave the house then. The matter was highlighted in the social media and people severely criticised the behaviour of the members of the Balochistan Assembly for not allowing Mahjabeen to attend the session. Afterwards, Mahjabeen and other female MPAs launched a campaign to change the laws pertaining to bringing children in the assembly and advocated establishment of a daycare center in the house.
