A surprise visit by First lady, Bushra Imran Khan, felt like a good omen for the administration of Gulab Devi hospital in Lahore.
According to details, she was accompanied by her friend, Farah Khan, when she reviewed the hospital and chitchatted with patients. She appeared concerned about their problems.
The first lady also held a meeting with the Gulab Devi hospital officials and asked them to provide details of the difficulties faced in treating patients. The administration was also directed to ensure the provision of timely treatment and a clean environment for the patients.
She maintained, “Prime Minister desires provision of the basic health facility to each citizen.”
Healthy citizens helped create a good society, the first lady underscored.
Earlier, she had visited the site of a shelter home project in Lahore on December 1, 2019
There, she had directed the authorities to complete the construction as soon as possible and also added the provision of all basic facilities, including a proper meal, to the homeless. The shelter project was inaugurated by PM Khan in November, with an aim to house the homeless people, who usually spend nights on footpaths or other areas across Lahore.
The PM had said on the occasion that his party wanted to turn Pakistan into a welfare state and this target could not be achieved without helping the poor segments of the society.
He had questioned, “Should we allow our people to live on footpaths?”
Announcing plans to launch a first-ever poverty alleviation package within a week or two, the premier had claimed that therein all relevant departments would work under a single setup to eliminate poverty. Khan had noted that his government would initiate similar projects in other big cities of the country.
