ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister (PM) Raja Farooq Haider and United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador Essa Abdullah Albasha Alnoaimi visited the General Headquarters separately on Wednesday and held meetings with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Bajwa. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Major General Asif Ghafoor, matters of mutual interest were discussed in a meeting with the UAE ambassador. The top general condoled loss of lives of UAE nationals in the recent bombings in Kandahar. The COAS praised the envoy’s role in enhancing Pakistan-UAE cooperation in different fields. He also thanked the ambassador for his country’s contributions towards developmental projects in Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The ambassador acknowledged and praised the role of Pakistan Army in war on terror and militancy and expressed the desire to continue working together for peace and prosperity in the region. Earlier, AJK Prime Minister Farooq Haider discussed security situation along the LoC and other matters of mutual interest with the army chief. General Bajwa assured the PM that the army was fully prepared and capable to respond to all types of threats from across the border. Haider thanked the top general for the Pakistan Army’s contributions towards security and development in Kashmir, particularly in the fields of education, health and communication infrastructure. General Bajwa is visiting Karachi on Thursday (today) to head a meeting regarding the security issues. According to sources, he would be briefed about the Karachi operation and the achievements made in accomplishing the national action plan.
