Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit Baltistan Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur reiterated on Tuesday that the federal government is committed to the devolution of power. He was chairing the second meeting of the committee to examine constitutional and administrative reforms for GB. Law Minister Farogh Naseem, GB governor, Attorney General of Pakistan, defense secretary, Kashmir Affairs secretary, GB chief secretary, GB Council joint secretary and higher officials of the Foreign Ministry also attended the meeting. The meeting discussed the issues relating to the constitutional and administrative empowerment of GB. The report of the subcommittee headed by the attorney general was presented in the meeting. The meeting had a detailed discussion on different suggestions and proposals of the subcommittee. Speaking on the occasion, Ali Amin Gandapur said that GB region would be empowered constitutionally and administratively according to wishes of people of the area. While discussing the different proposals and suggestions of the sub committees, it was agreed in the meeting that wishes of the people of the area would be given top priority and overall national interest of the country would be safeguarded at the same time. Farogh Naseem was of the opinion that this important matter required more time so that all aspects and effects of any such decision could be weighed accordingly.
