ISLAMABAD: In the wake of the opposition parties’ pressure National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ayaz Sadiq is trying hard to run the House proceedings smoothly. Sources told Daily Times that Leader of the Opposition in NA Khursheed Shah and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Deputy Parliamentary Leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi have conveyed to the speaker that if ministers would continue to misbehave with the opposition then it would be difficult for the opposition to attend the Monday (today) meeting of the parliamentary leaders. The speaker is making efforts to settle the matter and he had no intention to take action against any member involved in Thursday’s brawl at parliament. He just wanted to stop such incidents in the future, sources told. Both Shah and Qureshi complained to the speaker about the misbehaviour of Khawaja Asif and Khawaja Saad Rafiq. Sources said the speaker said he also did not like the statements of some ministers and he has conveyed his reservations to the government. Sources added that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also contacted the speaker and urged him to maintain the sanctity of the House. In today’s meeting, the parliamentary leaders would make efforts to reach a consensus to run the NA proceedings without any disturbance.
