‘It’s impossible to KO Khabib’: Manager talks possible Floyd Mayweather fight

Published on: October 20, 2018 4:30 PM

After raising his stakes in the MMA world, UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is making some headlines in the boxing world too courtesy discussions of a potential boxing fight between the Russian and undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather.

It is not as simple as it may seem. Earlier this month, after a historic victory against Conor McGregor, Khabib had (jokingly) called about Mayweather saying “there is only one king in the jungle”. Later, Mayweather ‘confirmed’ that a fight between himself and the UFC champion was ‘happening’.

We, for a fact, know that it’s far from ‘happening’. UFC President Dana White believes that too, but Khabib‘s manager Ali Abdelaziz has some interesting takes on a potential boxing bout between the two undefeated stars.

While others might be ruling a possibility of a bout out and giving Khabib no chance whatsoever, Ali believes otherwise. “Khabib is bigger than Floyd, and won’t tire. If Khabib can drop McGregor, imagine what he’d do to Floyd. I am not saying Khabib will knock Floyd out, but he can drop him and who knows, maybe finish him,” he said talking to ESPN.

Ali also believes that Floyd does not have the power to knock Khabib out. “Khabib has a concrete Dagestani head. It’s impossible to knock him out.” “This will be a real right. With Conor, it was just a show, but with Khabib, it’s going to be a real fight,” he added.

He continued that he was not sure whether a bout between the two will happen or not, but he was ‘talking’ to people. “Listen I don’t want to go into details. Does Floyd want to fight Khabib? I don’t know, but I am talking to people. Floyd has my number, that’s all I want to say.”

As of now, there’s no guarantee of what Khabib’s next move will be, but Dana White believes the Eagle will fight number 1 contender Tony Ferguson next. A fight with former two-division champion Georges Saint-Pierre is also being talked about in fan circles, but the UFC president does not believe GSP can cut to Lightweight and fight Khabib.

Do you think Khabib will enter the boxing world to fight Mayweather? If not.. who do you think the Russian should fight next?
