The employees of the FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) have announced to donate their three days salary to the prime minister’s dam fund, the authority’s spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday. .”The DG and directors will donate an amount equal to three days of their salaries while the rest of the staff will donate one day of their salaries,” said the spokesman. The suggestion to donate the salaries was put forward before employees by FDMA Director General Mehmood Aslam Wazir Wazir. Wazir said that construction of national reservoirs is a national cause, and the employees have demonstrated willingness to be a part of this project of national importance. “The country is facing acute water shortage and there is no way out, but to construct dams to ensure safe and sound life for our next generations,” he added. Director Admin Muhammad Riaz Dawar and Director Operation Nasir Khan Durrani also stressed that everyone should come forward and donate in his/her personal capacity for this national cause. Last week, Prime Minister Imran Khan in a televised address appealed to the nation to donate to the dams fund established by the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Referring to fast depleting Pakistan water resources, the prime minister said the country would face drought-like conditions by 2025, if immediate steps are not taken to reverse the situation.
