ISLAMABAD: Afghanistan on Monday assured fool-proof security to Pakistan consulate in Jalalabad, which was closed three days ago following withdrawal of security by the governor. The assurance was given by Afghan Foreign Minister Salauddin Rabbani via telephone to counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi. The Afghan minister also congratulated Qureshi over his appointment as the foreign minister. Foreign office spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal told Daily Times that during the phone call, Rabbani extended invitation to Qureshi to visit Afghanistan which the latter accepted. Qureshi also raised the issue of security of Pakistani consulate at Jalalabad and interference of the governor at the consulate, on which complete assurance was given by the Afghan side that there would be no such thing in the future. The Pakistani consulate in Jalalabad is expected to be opened within next 24 hours. During the call, Pak-Afghan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity was also discussed.
