Despite taking the same preventive measures for the elimination of dengue as the previous government and concerned departments did, the situation is worst in the districts of Lahore division except for the provincial metropolis. In 2018, as many as 15,437 dengue cases had been detected and eradicated so far, including 428 in Lahore city. According to statistics, 14,909 larvae were found in Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib which were ignored by the concerned departments. According to details, the dengue surveillance teams have visited 831,000 places and lodged 78 cases in different police stations over not taking preventive measures, despite of handing out warnings to them, from January 2018 up until now. Deputy Commissioner Lahore Anwarul Haq said that as many as 1,430 male and 2,297 female staff of dengue surveillance team have continued a vigorous drive against dengue in the city. He informed that 17,038 hotspots were checked in a week, whereas the average of checking is around 125,000 places in a month. He has appealed to citizens to cooperate with the dengue surveillance teams, avoid those areas where water has accumulated and must keep their house and rooftops clean in order to eradicate dengue entirely.
