KARACHI: Pak-Turk teaching staff and parents staged a protest against the Counter Terrorism Department and Punjab Police for “harassing” the chairman of Pak-Turk School Foundation at Karachi Press Club on Thursday. Carrying banners and placards they chanted slogans alleging that the Counter Terrorism Department and Punjab Police have been threatening the chairman of the school, Alamgir, and its Board of Directors to resign. They said that in spite of the decision passed by the local courts of all provinces to halt such actions and threats, they have continued to intimidate the chairman which is in clear negation of the law. Targeting schools for political gains would be a huge loss for the future of Pakistani children and its education. “They should take-over non-functional government run schools if they really want to educate the children of Pakistan”, the group stated. Involvement of another country in the internal affairs of the state seems unwise and far from rational explanation. They have high hopes from the running democratic government and the judicial system of Pakistan to see justice served. They requested the authorities not to snatch the right of education from the poor and needy children and think of the dedicated teachers working for the betterment of this country.
