KARACHI: The President of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Sindh, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, has hinted that the extension of military courts for an agreed period of time for sake of national security might be acceptable . He was addressing the media at a press conference at PPP media Cell in Bilawal House, Karachi on Thursday. “Under the National Action Plan (NAP), military courts have been set up for a period of two years, but for the sake of national security, PPP would support the cause. There is no place for military courts in democratic rule, but PPP has endorsed the elimination of terrorism from the country with the help of military courts. In this regard, the party is organizing an All Parties Conference (APC) in Islamabad on March 4th to discuss important national issues,” he informed. He stated that PPP was the only political party where the leadership has sacrificed their lives for the cause of democracy and has always struggled against dictatorship rule and fought for people’s supremacy. The complete elimination of dictatorial forces and terrorism from society is their objective. Some political parties have serious reservations on the National Action Plan and the possibility of debate on the issue is likely going to happen during the APC. Keeping in view the national interest, PPP will not take a sole decision on any issue because they wish to ‘take everyone with us’, Khuhro affirmed. On the occasion, many political workers and office bearers belongs to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H), Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L), Sunni Tehreek (ST) announced their intention to join PPP. Later Nisar Khuhro welcomed all of them on the joining of his party and hoped that it would continue to strengthen democracy in the country.
