LARKANA: The Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) AD Khawaja on Tuesday inaugurated Criminal Record Office (CRO) that aims to equip police to inspect crimes and criminals swiftly, speedily
While addressing the media, he revealed that the Sindh police department is being modernised to formulate speedy justice and implement surveillance for providing relief to the people.
He asserted that criminals used to relocate themselves and officers underwent difficult situation to trace them. “CROs and Facilitation Centres have been established in the province, allowing inter-connectivity with the Punjab police database system,” he said while adding that record of 1.5 million criminals has been fetched.
He said that branches have been established in the prisons and officers were acquiring necessary training required to operate the system.
“CIA Centres were already equipped with a similar facility and CROs are operating there,” he claimed while adding that finger prints record system has been established at CPO in Karachi to maintain the data of criminals.
He asserted to connect CROs with KP and Balochistan as a next step of the Sindh police. “Geofencing is not available to any provincial police department, however when police needs it, intelligence agencies extend their full support,” he asserted while claiming that Mehar incident has been under investigation and the two suspects would soon be arrested.
He urged that justice in this case would be served purely on merit as one of heirs of the deceased Ume Rubab tried to protest before the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) in Karachi on Saturday. IGP assured no threat to her.
He pledged that police would be impartial in the upcoming general elections as police responsibility is to maintain law and order.
“2700 IT professionals would be recruited accordingly with the allocated budget, to establish information technology (IT) Cadre after the general elections in particular assistance with the Sindh government,” he revealed.
AD Khowaja said that new police stations are under construction accordingly with the allocated budget only.
“Entire Sindh budget is required to re-construct all police stations that are shabby in the province,” he said while expressing concerns over central area between Ghotki and Kashmore and Shah Belo of Shikarpur-Sukkur districts where a major police operation is expected to be carried out to get rid of criminals.
He said that women police stations have been re-designed where women and children can be accommodated effectively and securely.
IGP said a special unit was established to deal with child kidnapping incidents and domestic violence.
He expressed dedication to appoint honest and sincere officers with their salaries doubled.
Larkana Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Abdullah Shaikh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tanveer Tunio and other police officers were also present on the occasion.
After inauguration of the CRO, banquets were presented to IGP by the children.
