KHAIRPUR: The Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers Association (SALUTA) President Dr Amir Ali Chandio invited civil society, professors, doctors, businessmen and office bearers of district bar council of Sukkur to join a rally entitled ‘Stop Corruption and Save University’ to be carried out on May 12. “Institutions cannot sustain without proper governance,” Dr Chandio said while talking to media adding that the struggle is against financial and administrative corruption and not against any individual. He emphasised transparency and merit based admissions, examinations, financial structure, affiliations in all departments of the university. He criticised the victimisation of the faculty members who were striving against corruption. Recently, a member of SALUTA executive council, Mr Muhammad Hanif Tunio was ousted by the registrar from his position as an in charge of the department of computer science and information technology, allegedly because he did not vote in favour of registrar-led Democratic Group. He pledged that such ‘evil’ tactics would not be able to restrict their movement against corruption, discrimination, nepotism and favouritism, which polluted sanctity of the institution.
