KHAIRPUR: A delegation of Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers Association (SALUTA), led by Prof Dr Amir Ali Chandio and Prof Dr Ghulam Ali, visited the finance wing, examination wing and registrar office on Thursday to discuss issues of the teaching community. The meeting with registrar examined the issue of advertisement of promotion of the faculty members in the vacant posts without any discrimination. The registrar agreed and ordered the staff to collect applications of the teachers who were qualified for the promotion to the next higher grade. The meeting with controller of examinations analysed tasks assigned to the faculty members during examinations. The controller assured the delegation that tasks would be assigned on merit. The delegation congratulated Prof Ghulam Mustafa on his appointment as the Dean of Faculty of Arts and Languages. SALU PVC counsels students during examination Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Yousaf counseled the students who were appearing in the examinations of their first semester. In his address to the students, he said that education ensures peace and prosperity in the society, and therefore students need to compete with the developing world. “Youths are concrete national assets,” he added. Dr Yousaf expressed satisfaction over smooth conduct of examinations in the faculties. Prof Dr Mir Munsif Ali, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Hassan, Prof Dr Shafique Ahmed, Prof Dr Nisar Ahmed and others were also present on the occasion. Women drowns in river A woman was drowned in the Indus River on Thursday near Sobhodero. According to a report, Manjho Klohi was washing clothes on the banks of river when her foot slipped into the river. The villagers found her body from the river after three hours of search.
