LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spearhead Shehbaz Sharif will be flying to London in the afternoon on Tuesday for a medical check-up. According to Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR), Shehbaz will be leaving for London later today, while he will continue to hold meetings on several matters concerning the party and the provincial government via video-links. In response to the criticism from Social Media users over Punjab CM’s medical treatments overseas, DGPR said that Shehbaz was diagnosed with cancer during former president Gen. Musharraf’s regime during which the Sharif brothers were in exile. It was further explained that during that time period, Punjab CM was treated in a hospital in London and that such ‘diseases demand persistent treatment from the same doctor’. DGPR added that Pakistan is equipped with state of the art cancer facilities, but Shehbaz’s visits to London are due to ‘critical reasons’. The decision to fly to London for medical check-up was made during a meeting with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday.
