KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday appreciated the Sindh government for announcing People’s Labour Policy 46 years after the historic Labour Policy unveiled by then prime minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on February 10, 1972. In a statement, the PPP chairman said that party had proved again that it was the sole representative of labour and working class people and interests of the toiling masses were always given top priority by the party. Bilawal said that it was the labour, peasants and students who followed the call of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and then Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and always remained in the forefront for the movements for democracy and people’s rights. He said that people’s government in Sindh had successfully taken all the stake-holders into confidence in formulating the labour policy following the devolution of Labour Ministry to the provinces under the historic 18th Amendment piloted by the then president Asif Ali Zardari. The PPP chairman said the People’s Labour Policy would greatly help in resolving the problems of labour, enhance the productivity and boost industrial activity in the province. “This will bring prosperity in the society and boost the development process in Sindh,” he added. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari praised the efforts of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Labour Minister Nasir Hussain Shah and others, adding that People’s Labour Policy 2018 would provide guidelines for legislations and decisions regarding labour community.
