KARACHI: District West police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested at least two suspected target killers who were affiliated with a political party. One of the suspects was identified as Manzur Alam alias Bakar. His arrest was disclosed during a press conference held by SP Abid Ali Baloch. According to SP Baloch, the accused arrested belonged to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London and was involved in various cases of targeted killings, extortion and kidnapping for ransom. He was arrested by Pakistan Bazaar police. The police also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunitions from his possession. Similarly, another political worker allegedly involved in various crimes was also arrested after an exchange of fire with the Orangi Town police. Police officials said that the police party was busy in patrol when it intercepted a suspected motorcyclist who instead of stopping the bike opened fire at the police and tried to escape. The police team fired into the air and later arrested the motorcyclist who was identified as Zohaib Ahmed alias WC. The suspect later admitted that he had been involved in various cases of target killings, the police said.
