LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore organises a Cheque Distribution Ceremony in NAB Complex. Director General NAB Lahore Mr. Shahzad Saleem graced the occasion as Chief Guest, who handed over 450 cheques among effectees of Elite Town Housing Scheme amounting to Rs 119.389 Million. The amount disseminated is amazingly more than three times of the actual amount being invested by the effectees with administration of the Elite Town Housing Society for obtaining of plots and houses when NAB launched investigations into embezzlement of public money by accused Kashif Khan, CEO M/s Service Masters (Pvt) in project of Elite Town. While addressing to the participants of the ceremony, DG NAB Lahore maintained that after conducting investigations NAB filed a corruption reference in 2014, whereas, the amount recovery was made through Plea Bargain (PB) deal in 2016 through Accountability Court, Lahore with the accused persons. Second installment of the total amount (33%) was received and has been handed over to the effectees, today. He further said that NAB has, so far, recovered Rs 50 Billion (approximately) within last 4 years span which is being returned to the concerned government, semi government, private departments and among general public, too. While leaving a message to the corrupt people, he said, keeping in view chairman’s vision NAB is tightening its noose around culprits and we are determined to make Pakistan a corruption free state. Furthermore, a day would come soon when nation along with NAB would stand shoulder to shoulder against corruption and corrupt elements and the dream of ‘Clean Pakistan’ would come true with letter and spirit. At the end, the effectees graciously thanked Chairman NAB, Justice Javed Iqbal and DG NAB Lahore Shahzad Saleem for their efforts in returning their life time savings.
