ISLAMABAD: Renewing the commitment to root out the menace of corruption and make capital police a corruption-free force, Islamabad Police Inspector General (IG) Sultan Azam Temuri has said that no one within the department will be allowed to do any kind of embezzlement and only those following the policy of zero tolerance against corruption will survive. He stated this while reviewing the crime situation in the city during a meeting attended among others by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operaions Sajid Kiani, AIG Operations Asmat Ullah Junejo AIG Special Branch Captain (r) Muhammad Ilyas, all zonal superintendents of police, all sub-divisional police officer (SDPOs) and all station house officers (SHOs). Temuri said that he will not tolerate corruption and would purge corrupt police officer the force involved in corrupt practices. He also directed all police officials performing duties at police stations to improve their performance and address the grievances of the masses on immediate basis following the merit to win the confidence and support of the people for the cops’ department. He stressed for speedy disposal of cases, investigation purely on merit and earliest arrest of criminals involved in various crime cases. The IG also ordered to ensure arrest of proclaimed offender and other criminals involved in crimes of heinous nature and are still at large. He also directed police officials for strict monitoring of those ever faced imprisonment in car lifting or involvement in other criminal activities. He asked to activate conciliatory committees and early computerization of records of police stations. He directed to maintain liaison with the complainants and inform them about the progress of cases on regular basis. The IG appreciated the performance of SPs (City and Saddar Zones), SDPOs of Aabpra, Bhara Kau, Saddar Circles and SHOs of Bhara Kau, Golra and Tarnol police stations. He also ordered to launch crackdown on those involved in immoral activities, wine and drug sellers. The Islamabad police chief said that his vision is to make the force `exemplary’ and inculcate friendly police ecology in the city. He also directed for decent behaviour by policemen with citizens and to ensure immediate redressal of their complaints. Published in Daily Times, January 16th 2018.
