District & Sessions Court of Islamabad on Thursday issued a non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in a case linked to alleged statements against state institutions. During the hearing, Civil Judge Abbas Shah ordered law enforcement authorities to arrest Afridi and present him before the court. The action was taken after the chief minister failed to appear despite being summoned in the case. The court was hearing a matter registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). Investigators from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) have accused Afridi of making remarks that led to legal proceedings. Following the issuance of the warrants, the court adjourned the hearing until June 29. The case remains under trial, and further proceedings will take place on the next hearing date. Authorities have been directed to ensure compliance with the court’s order and submit a report on the execution of the arrest warrants.
