South Africa women's cricket team arrives in Karachi for first Pakistan tour

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced that the South Africa Women’s Under-19 Cricket Team will tour Pakistan for the first time to play a five-match T20 series against the Pakistan Women’s Under-19 Cricket Team.

According to the PCB, the tour will mark the maiden visit of South Africa’s women’s under-19 side to Pakistan and is aimed at providing valuable international exposure to both teams ahead of major upcoming tournaments.

The five-match T20 series is scheduled to be played from July 14 to July 24 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. Match timings will be announced at a later date.

The visiting South African squad is set to arrive in Karachi on July 10 and will participate in training sessions at the National Bank Stadium from July 11 to July 13 before the start of the series.

The opening match of the series will be played on July 14, while the remaining fixtures are scheduled for July 17, 19, 22 and 24.

Pakistan’s women’s under-19 team last featured in a bilateral T20 series against Bangladesh, where they secured a 3-2 victory in the five-match contest. The upcoming series against South Africa is expected to provide another important test for the young Pakistani players.

According to the PCB, the matches will serve as a key part of Pakistan’s preparations for the upcoming ACC Women’s Under-19 T20 Asia Cup and the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place next year.

The board believes regular international competition is essential for the development of emerging players and will help the squad gain valuable match experience ahead of major regional and global events.

The PCB’s women’s cricket department recently organised training camps in Karachi as part of its efforts to strengthen the under-19 talent pipeline and prepare players for future international assignments.
