KARACHI: Most likely change in the shape of transfer and posting of high officials in Sindh police have finally surfaced on Monday when with the approval of provincial home minister Sohail Anwar Siyal, the chairman of Sindh’s Enquiries and Anti-corruption Establishment, Ghulam Qadir Thebo, has been posted as the Additional Inspector General of Police Karachi replacing Mushtaq Mahar. According to a notification issued by Sindh Chief Secretary Rizwan Memon on Monday, Mushtaq Mahar, the current AIG Karachi, has been posted as AIG Traffic, replacing Khadim Hussain Bhatti who will now serve as AIG Research, Development and Inspection. Karachi Police Spokesperson Adil Rasheed said soon after the notification that in compliance of the competent authority’s order, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar, AIG Karachi, has relinquished the charge. The notification also stated that Sardar Abdul Majeed, who is replacing Khadim Hussain Bhatti, will serve as AIG Sindh, while Dr Aftab Ahmed Pathan will replace Dr Sanaullah Abbasi to become AIG Crime Branch. Sanaullah Abbasi has been relieved of his additional charge and will continue as AIG Counter-Terrorism Department. Interestingly, Inspector General of Sindh police AD Khwaja now is surrounded by all three officers, Gulam Qadir Thebo, Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti and Khadim Hussain Bhatti who were in the waiting list for next IGP Sindh a few months ago when Sindh Government attempted to transfer AD Khawaja. According to the sources, AD Khawaja has already lost his crucial powers and his authority is being subjected with the approval of home ministry that’s why additional Inspector General Karachi police Ghulam Qadir thebu who had deserved the post of IGP after serving as chairman of Anti Corruption Establishment can possibly enjoy the powers of IGP with the approval of the home ministry. A senior officer has claimed that Sardar abdul Majeed Dsati and Khadim Hussian Bhatti will also enjoy self designated powers since they are considered to be blue-eyed officers.
