Sarfaraz captained Pakistan in 100 international matches—50 ODIs, 37 T20Is, and 13 Tests—and led the team to the top ranking in T20I cricket. Under his leadership, Pakistan achieved a world-record 11 consecutive T20I series victories and six clean sweeps, including series wins over West Indies, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, and Scotland.
He also guided Pakistan to a historic triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy, defeating India by 180 runs in the 2017 final at the Oval. This made him the first Pakistan captain to win the Champions Trophy and the only captain to win ICC titles at both junior and senior levels, having previously led Pakistan to victory in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in 2006. In recognition, Sarfaraz was awarded the Pride of Performance in 2018.
Among his individual records, he holds the Pakistan record for 10 catches in a Test match (vs South Africa, 2019) and is the only Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter to score an ODI century at Lord’s (vs England, 2016). His final international appearance came in a Test against Australia in Perth in 2023.
