Eight militants killed in Quetta CTD operation

Published on: February 18, 2026 2:15 PM

QUETTA — Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday reported that eight armed militants were killed during a security operation in the Darakhshan area of Quetta.

According to a CTD statement, the fatalities occurred during an exchange of fire, and three CTD personnel sustained injuries in the operation. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the deceased, who were reportedly affiliated with a banned extremist outfit.

The department said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to intensify counter-terrorism measures amid heightened security concerns in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This action follows the conclusion of “Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1” earlier this month, which the Inter-Services Public Relations reported resulted in the elimination of 216 terrorists in Balochistan over several days. The clearance operation had been launched in response to a surge in attacks across the province on January 31 that had disrupted daily life in several areas.

During the earlier coordinated operations, approximately 180 suspects were arrested and a significant cache of arms and ammunition was recovered by the Frontier Corps and local police, officials said.

Authorities emphasized that these security operations are aimed at eliminating extremist threats and maintaining law and order in the restive regions. The CTD and allied forces have vowed to continue proactive measures to dismantle militant networks and prevent attacks on civilians and security personnel.

Officials also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local authorities as operations continue.

The Quetta operation highlights the ongoing commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to counter-terrorism efforts and restore stability in areas affected by insurgent activities.
