
BANNU: Three policemen were injured when a police vehicle transporting prisoners to Hangu came under attack on Thursday. Sources said the vehicle was fired upon by “terrorists” while traveling on Domel Link Road. The prisoners were being transported for routine court hearings.
Police sources said the vehicle’s driver changed route following the attack and safely reached Karak. Two of the injured officers were being treated at the district headquarters hospital in Karak, while Hangu District Police Officer Khanzaib Mohmand visited them. Karak police confirmed that all three cops sustained injuries.

An investigation into the attack is underway, and security in the area has been increased. Authorities noted that law enforcement personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been targeted in several attacks in recent days.
On January 4, a policeman was killed in firing by unidentified attackers in the Kashfi Khel area of Bannu. Constable Rashid Khan was shot while leaving his home for work. Earlier last month, five cops were injured in a terrorist attack on a police checkpost in Shaikh Landak.

Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity as security forces continue efforts to track the attackers. Authorities stressed that the safety of personnel and prisoners remains a top priority in Bannu.
