Officials said the decision was taken to protect lives and property, as extremely low visibility increases the risk of collisions, especially when drivers violate lanes during hazardous fog conditions.

Moreover, motorway authorities advised commuters to strictly follow lane discipline and avoid unnecessary journeys, stressing that fog-related accidents often occur due to overspeeding and sudden braking in poor visibility.
They further highlighted that safer travel hours during foggy weather range from 10am to 6pm, urging drivers to plan journeys accordingly and delay travel during early morning and late night hours.
